Freehand drawing process
The first step in your tattoo process is going to be the design. Usually you go to a tattoo studio, they show you a design on paper or Ipad and then this design is placed on your skin with a stencil paper. Most of the times when I work I prefer to draw the design directly on the skin with a marker, this way of working is known as 'freehand tattoo'.
There's different reasons why I choose to work this way; first of all it's much better to adapt the design to the body shape of the person, mostly when the tattoo is a big piece that wraps around the body or in some areas that are not flat such as hands, fingers, feet, etc - Me personally, I don't like to draw before the session because I want to meet first so we get to know each other and I feel I can understand much better the concept when we talk about it face to face, the freehand process also allows me to work together with the person to modify details on the design as I'm doing it. The inspiration for most of my tattoos comes from mehndi tattoos which are done in a similar way, the henna is applied directly on the skin creating the design as they go.
Here you can find a selection of videos and pictures showing a bit of this process, thanks for watching <3
